What we’d test
What a MowerLab field test of the Keenmow K1 would cover: LiDAR mapping with no RTK antenna, our 7 mapped obstacles, slopes, and how a mower rated for 1,500 m² copes with a lawn of about twice that size. None of this is a test result. It is the list of questions our property is set up to answer.
Mapping without RTK. Keenmow says the K1 builds its own 3D map and needs no boundary wire or RTK base station. That removes the satellite question but raises another: does the map hold up around a tree by the street, a tree in the back yard and a treehouse near the creek edge? We would check map accuracy and whether it drifts over repeated runs.
Obstacles and narrow gaps. Keenmow says the K1 can pass paths as narrow as 0.8 m and recognizes obstacles with a 150° camera. We would run it past a basketball hoop on a square cement post block, a raised garden with a gate, metal-edged landscaping with white-washed stone around the house, and a no-go area marked with garden stakes and caution tape. We record contact, clearance and how close it mows to each edge.
Slopes and a small deck. Keenmow rates the K1 for slopes up to 50% (27°) and gives a 22 cm cutting deck and a 15 kg body. We have not measured our property's grades yet, so a test would report how it handled the slopes we have, not whether it reaches 27°. A narrow deck also bears on how long a full pass takes.
Coverage and recharging. The spec table gives 90 minutes per charge and 120 or 200 m² per hour, and the lawn it would mow is about 0.52 acre of our 0.78-acre lot. A full job might need several recharges, so we would check docking, resuming where it stopped, and the total time. The same categories as every other mower we test, including app, cut quality, rain handling and noise, would apply.
MowerLab field tests run on one 0.78-acre residential test property with 7 mapped obstacles (property details).
