Who runs MowerLab
Andrew Mueller, founder
I'm Andrew Mueller, and I run MowerLab. I do the field testing, write the evaluations and keep the catalog up to date.
MowerLab exists to make robotic mowers easier to compare honestly. Manufacturers rate lawn size, slope and navigation in different ways, so the site puts every model's published specifications into one consistent format and labels them as specs, not test results. Where I can, I go further and run the mower myself.
All testing happens on one 0.75-acre residential property with 7 mapped obstacles. I don't publish where it is. The first mower I tested, a Segway Navimow X430, I bought at full retail price, and I have been testing it there since May 2026. Every result, good or bad, is published as observed, together with how the unit was obtained.
MowerLab has no affiliate links, and that is a personal choice, not a tactic. No manufacturer pays for placement, rankings or results, and the site takes no sponsorship or advertising from the brands it covers. A brand may lend a unit for testing; it gets a factual check before publication, but no say in the outcome.
If you spot an error, want a mower tested, or have filmed a robotic mower in your own yard, email me.
How MowerLab is funded
MowerLab has no affiliate links and no affiliate, sponsorship or advertising agreement with any manufacturer, and earns nothing when you buy a mower. No payment, in money or in kind, affects inclusion, classification, testing order or results.
- No affiliate links. Links to manufacturers carry no affiliate code, and MowerLab earns nothing when you click one or buy a mower.
- No payment for placement or results. Nothing a brand or creator offers buys inclusion, ranking, classification, testing order or a better result.
- The test mower was bought, not given. The Segway Navimow X430 was purchased by MowerLab at full retail price. Every evaluation page says where its unit came from.
- Loaned units are disclosed. If a manufacturer lends a unit, the evaluation page says so, and the brand gets a factual check before publication, not a say in the outcome.
The full rules are in our editorial policy.
How testing works
Field tests run on one 0.75-acre residential test property with 7 mapped obstacles, one mower at a time, during the mowing season (about April to mid-November). Each mower is run in 9 categories: Drop and Mow, Obstacle Avoidance, Hill Capability, Map Creation, App Experience, Weather Handling, Grass Cut Quality, Multi-Zone, Noise Level. Each category tested gets an outcome (Very Strong, Strong, Passable, Weak or Failure) and a written narrative.
Mowers we have not run are classified from published manufacturer specifications, and their pages are labeled spec-based. Creator videos and manufacturer claims never count as our testing.

Using our images
You may use photos and screenshots of MowerLab's own testing in coverage of MowerLab or of a mower we tested, credited “MowerLab.com”. Please don't alter or crop out a result, and ask before using our images in advertising. Manufacturer product images belong to their manufacturers, and creator videos to their creators; please get those from them.
