MowerLab Commentary

Editorial Assessment

What a MowerLab field test of the GOKO M6 would cover: navigation under trees, our 7 mapped obstacles, slopes, and recharging partway through a 0.75-acre lawn. None of this is a test result. It is the list of questions our property is set up to answer.

Navigation under trees. GOKO pairs RTK with a stereo camera (VSLAM) and says the M6 can keep mowing for up to 10 minutes, or 150 m², without an RTK fix. Our property has a tree by the street, a tree in the back yard and a treehouse near the creek edge, all places where satellite reception can drop. We would log where the mower loses its fix and what it does next.

Obstacles. GOKO says QuadVision recognizes more than 200 object types. We would run it past each mapped obstacle, including a basketball hoop on a square cement post block, a raised garden with a gate, metal-edged landscaping with white-washed stone around the house, and a no-go area marked with garden stakes and caution tape. We record contact, clearance and how close it mows to each edge.

Slopes and terrain. The M6 is rated for slopes up to 90% (42°) and for obstacles up to 3 inches. We have not measured our property's grades yet, so a test would report how it handled the slopes we have, not whether it reaches 42°.

Coverage and recharging. The single-battery M6 is rated for 0.5 acre per charge, and our lawn is 0.75 acre. A full job needs at least one recharge, so we would check that it docks, recharges and resumes where it stopped, and how long the whole lawn takes.

Mapping and the app. GOKO lists automatic boundary mapping as a future software update. We would test map creation on the firmware the mower runs at the time and name that version, then score the app, cut quality, rain handling and noise in the same categories as every other mower we test.

MowerLab field tests run on one 0.75-acre residential test property with 7 mapped obstacles (property details).
